In this thorough study of the Caltrans District 7 Headquarters in Los Angeles by Morphosis, we investigated the structure, environmental response, and construction details of the building. For clarity, each topic of the study is broken up into two questions: “why did they do it?” and “how did they do it?” In addition, we interviewed the building's facilities manager about how the building has functioned over the years since its opening. Relevant quotes are shown alongside the research in speech bubbles emanating from the Caltrans logo.
